Economy Resistor in Vacuum Contactor Unit

1. What is economy resistor?
A resistor placed in series with the DC closing coil of the VCU or other type of DC coil to limit the current to the closing coil during running. Used with DC contractors category DC-14.

2. Operation example of a TAMCO 3.3kV VCU
- RL-2 and RL-3 closes when RL relay energized.
- CC energized via CC (NC) contact
- CC (NC) opens and CC is energized via RES resistor (economy resistor) to limit the current.
